What is Static power?

Power consumed continuously by leakage currents through off transistors even when signals do not switch, also called leakage power. It rises steeply with temperature.

Static power in the explanations

Questions that mention Static power (3)

  1. Why is the static (steady-state) power consumption of a CMOS inverter small?
  2. Assume DVFS can lower the supply voltage in proportion to frequency. When frequency is halved, roughly what happens to dynamic power and to the dynamic energy for a fixed amount of computation?
  3. Which describes static (leakage) power in CMOS circuits?
