In an ideal op-amp circuit with negative feedback, what is the property called by which the two input terminals have almost the same voltage?

  1. ASlew rate
  2. BOffset
  3. CVirtual short
Show answer and explanation

Answer: C. Virtual short

When negative feedback is applied to an op-amp with very high open-loop gain, the output settles at a finite value, so the voltage difference between the two inputs is almost zero. Because they look shorted even though they are not actually connected, this is called a virtual short. It is the basis for analyzing op-amp circuits.
